The Grand East Course at Virginia International Raceway has 29 turns over 6.55 Km which makes it a very challeging track to master. You simply have to drive carefully throughout both races. But once you master the track I think there could be plenty of overtaking on this track. Race 2 sets the grid with the first eight finishers in a reversed order, so that finishing P1 in Race 1 will give a 8th start position in Race, finishing 3rd in Race 1 will give a start in P6 and so on. Remember to drive carefully and give way when you are being lapped! And have fun :)

As the only person on this planet i love the Ford GT, but 20 laps here without crashing, not sure i can do it. I tried the Star Madza and its a dream round this track :040: If you put that car in Egil, everybody has a chance to participate. Ronni, if you add Star Mazda to the practice tonight it would be great :023:

Star Mazda and Radical are close matced cars, at least around Oulton Park... could be a nice alternative....

Actually Ford GT and Star Mazda are sort of the same on this track, SM a bit faster. Just downloaded the SM and did some 2:30.xxx on the course, while I'm running Ford Gt atm about 2:32.xxx. Both times could be up to 4 seconds faster I guess. If we would choose Star Mazda and Ford GT for this event, everyone could decide for themselves, and pick either the "easy" choice and running with a slower top speed in the SM but faster cornering, or the risky GT with a higher top speed but a whale in corners. How about these two cars for the tournament? :)

I think there will be too many "awkward moments" when passing each other. Imagine trying to find each others braking points, since the SM can brake much later. I rather have the Ford and some other car and then 2 different classes.

True but you could think of this as part of the challenge? In the current iRacing multicar series with Ford GT, Corvette and HPD, the HPD is faster everywhere all the time. I agree thats just awkward! But Ford GT vs Star Mazda would be more equal as each car has its advantage on different part of the track.

Are Star Mazda and Riley an even closer match on this track?

I agree with that V8 flow. Now, if we instead take the Star Mazda and the Radical SR8 almost anyone in this thread are going to be satisfied with this solution :003:

I guess the SR8 is a bit faster because it's lighter than the Star Mazda? Anyway both of the cars have great downforce and are capable of running the track with a good flow :)

Befor a race is fun it needs peolple.. If there will be 8 guys in 3 different cars i think it will be hard having close racing. Even the cars are close in laptimes.

Well, after a bit of running today (hampered by a sligthly hurt food) it is pretty clear that the Radical is way faster in acceleration and has higher top speed, while the SM is king in the corners. That means that the Radical is best on first part of the track, while the SM rules the second half.

Perhaps a Riley / Radical combo would be a better choice, but as Lasse, my attendance is not at all conditional on the cars used....

After testing a bit the conclusion is (For my point of view) that the Radical is 20 km/t faster on the straights where the Star Mazda is faster in the corners, we did know that. Maybe they are close in laptimes, but in a race where you need to overtake, it will be hard. Not for the Radical's they can just blast past, but for the Star Mazda, they can't outbreake the Radical so it needs to overtake in the corners. This is a tight track so there isen't really space for it. But to make a good analyses we need more driver in the Radical. Lasse and Hårvard was the only 2.

The Riley and Radical is more equal in top speed i think, so maybe they will be better together in a race. We need more testing.

Første gang på denne bane, og forstår nu hvorfor de kalder den green hell =)
Fik lavet 20 laps i SR8'eren med 2.28.4xx som best, dog 2.25.xxx som optimal. Fik aldrig lige sat en lap sammen, men mægtig sjov bane til bilen.

Riley / Radical lyder spændende. Og hvis 3 klasser kan lokke flere folk til, synes jeg det er helt fint.

I hope that someone will host races with both the Riley and others with the V8 because these cars are great to drive! But for this event we'll stick to the SM and Radical because it's something very different. I'm looking forward to see how drivers adapt to the overtaking on this hard track. It's always hard to overtake when cars have different brake points and cornering efficiensies. But that's also the thrill of it, and WE can do it here in the virtual world, so let's try it out! Also we will stick with 2 cars.

I have updated the first post in this thread with race schedule for the 15th January. Also I hope someone will make a Join-button for me in the event calender, or tell me how to do that? :)

Jeg må være lige så tåbelig.. Ikke destro mindre prøvede jeg Jesper, og jeg forstår godt hvorfor du ikke fandt nogle road setup's! Selv under ned bremsninger trækker den til venstre, den vil bare til venstre :D Udover det, er det den bil med dårligst balance i jeg nogensinde har prøvet, når du drejer ind i et langsomt sving selvom du ikke er på gassen skal du alligevel dreje til venstre i et højre sving. Men sjovt var det nu, men gør det ikke igen :D

Changed the schedule a bit in server 1 due to technical limits within the length of practice sessions. This means Race 1 will be 15 laps instead of 10, and qual is 5 minutes longer. In other words - more racing for us :)

Jeg så du var av banen og skulle legge meg helt til venstre for å passere med god klarning, så glemte jeg lige den lille kink i banen der, kom på gresset og selv om jeg slapp opp på gassen vrengte den rundt og sendte meg midt mot deg.....
jeg skulle aldri ha stilt til start etter den uge og den dag jeg har hatt men lystent til å delta blir av og til for stor :( :(

Håvard, det skal du slet ikke tænke på - shit happens !! Var jeg ikke kommet uden for banen for det første, var det slet ikke sket, så det er lige så meget min egen skyld.. Før jeg kørte ind på banen igen, checkede jeg selvf. om der kom nogen, og så dig og Kim på vej, men med o.k. afstand, så jeg vurderede at der ikke var nogen risiko ved at køre forsigtigt ind i den ene side. Fik da et gevaldigt chok da vi pludselig begge fløj af banen :103::003: og var selvf. bare ærgelig bagefter, og undrede mig over hvordan du ikke havde kunnet nå at reagere. Det var først efter løbet jeg så at du havde mistet kontrollen helt forinden, og derfor ramte mig. Det kunne være sket for hvem som helst, og var jeg som sagt bare blevet på banen for det første, var det ikke sket... :)

Egil tak for host! Som vi kort snakkede om efter løbet, synes jeg det var alletiders med 2 race.. Det giver lige chancen for at "tage revanche", hvis man er uheldig, eller får kvajet sig i første løb. Man sidder som regel og ærger sig gul og blå over at al træningen var "spildt", og hvis man bare liiige fik en chance til... :002: At det så fejler i begge løb, kan man jo ikke gardere sig mod :042:

Mht. de 2 biler i samme klasse, synes jeg ikke helt fungerede. Radical'en var Star mazdaen for overlegen, men det var interessant at prøve alligevel.

Tillykke med sejren i race 1 Egil, flot kørt ! (Synes det er en tilbagevendende tendens på det sidste? ;))

Thanks for the host Egil.I do like the 2 race format but my girlfriend doesn't:) It was a nice combo although, once again, there were not enough competitors to warrant a 2 car field:(1st race was going well until I realised I didn't have enough fuel. Then while trying to adjust the fuel load & deselect the tyres so I didn't waste more time with tyre changes, (not easy to do when you can't see your keyboard due to pitch darkness) I lost a lot of time to Egil & Anders. After the pit stop I came out behind both Egil & Anders. I was then behind someone going into t2 & went wide onto the grass between t2 & t3 which put me into the wall. At this point Kim overtook me & my car was damaged. So my end result was 4th.2nd race I started in 4th & was able to get into 2nd behind Frank by the first corner. Was behind Frank for 1 lap & was able to get a good run on Frank into t1 where I was able to pass. After this, I put my head down & tried to drive as fast & clean as possible. Nice to have enough fuel in the 2nd race.

Hehe Marcello it's not like you to not do a perfect race, Mr. Alien :) It was a shame for you and Anders to not have enough fuel but that's also a factor in these races.

Both my races were as expected. In the first race my nerves was a factor for me by spinning out after the oak tree. After a couple of other offtracks I said to myself, that I should not drive the track like it was qualify. And that helped! Fortunenately for me both Anders and Marcello need to go for a splash and dash which was enough for me to pass both of them and take the win :) I think this is my first win in my time with iRacingDanmark :food-smiley-015:

At the second race, I didn't have any nerves affecting me, so I pushed on hard. Once again I pushed just a tiny bit to hard in the third last corner of lap 5 or 6, which took my car into the barriers. I needed a tow, which took 1:10 and put me in P7. From there I didn't have anything to lose, so I pushed hard again but kept my sanity this time (or at least I thought so :) ). One of the most exciting laps in this tournament was my last battleling with Frank. At the beginning of the last lap I had 3 seconds to Sonne, but he had wrecked his rear, so I got closer pretty fast. You can see in the video highlights later (uploading now) how the last lap went :023:

I agree on this 2 races the same day concept because it gives you a second chance if you didn't do too well in the first race. For me it also helps in the second race where I won't be affected by my nerves as much as in the first race. I actually thought there would be more drivers in the SM because of its popularity, but I guess SR8 is the main choice of those two. I do however like two different cars on the track because that means more overtaking and drama - Length of the races, car combo and tracks doesn't matter too much for me, as long as people enjoy the racing.

Er lidt nysgerrig efter hvordan du laver filmene?

Du bruger replayet selvf, og optager med fraps ? Hvilket program bruger du da til at redigere filmen ? Hvilket format, kvali osv. gemmer du dem i ?

Ville gerne selv prøve at rode lidt med det. Har haft stor morskab ud af at lave små film fra andre spil før :)

Jeg bruger Premiere Pro til at redigere optagelserne i. Jeg leger med filtre til effekterne for at prøve at give iRacing et andet udseende end den meget farverige standardpalet, som simulatoren selv har, og prøver at gøre det mere realistisk og mere mat i farverne samtidig. Filmene er H.264 format i 1080p, target Mbps er 24 og max 28.
Lydsiden er sådan set bare lydene fra spillet. Dog eksporterer jeg det samlede spor ud af PP og importerer det i Ableton Live for at give det en mere aggressiv fremtoning. Jeg forstærker lyden (altså forvrænger jeg den samtidig lidt), giver den lidt mere rumklang, og rydder op i nogle frekvenser, som ligger og resonerer for meget. Tilbage med det processerede spor i PP og så lad maskinen stå og arbejde i 6 timer, bagefter upload i 16 timer :)
